CMHDS presents 2017 “Brian Devereaux Memorial Scholarship” at BCIT

On May 1st, 2015 we lost Brian Devereaux in a tragic motorcycle accident. Brian was a tenured member of the CMHDS, the current Treasurer at the time and former President and Vice-President of the Society.

In 2016 the CMHDS established the “Brian Devereaux Memorial Award” in the Operations Management program at BCIT as a way to honor Brian’s memory and reward a deserving student each year.

Brian Devereaux Memorial Award
– An annual award established in 2016 by the Canadian Materials Handling and Distribution Society (CMHDS). The award is in memory of Brian Devereaux, a popular and long-time member of the society. Brian worked at the London Drugs Distribution Centre for more than 40 years and shaped the company significantly during that time. He will be remembered by many for his humor and willingness to freely give of his time to mentor others in the logistics industry.

On Friday June 23, 2017, Drew Church (CMHDS President) presented Peter Cheema with the second annual scholarship. The CMHDS would like to congratulate Peter and looks forward to continuing to honor Brian’s memory and awarding the scholarship each year.

About Peter

In June 2017, Peter Cheema completed his diploma in Business Operations Management through the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Peter has a background in Electrical Engineering from UBC and has been learning web development in his free time. His goal is  to own and operate a process improvement consulting firm.
