Deltaport hosts one of the World’s Largest Container Ships
The first of many visits by the shipping giant began on Sunday, August 23rd.
TSI Terminal Systems Inc. reports that the ZIM Djibouti, one of the largest container ships operating in the world, was docked at the Deltaport terminal from August 23rd until August 26th. At over 16,000 square metres (about the size of three football fields), the Djibouti has a cargo capacity in excess of 10,000 TEU, meaning it can hold over 10,000 twenty-foot shipping containers.
CMHDS Re-Launches “Logistically Speaking”
Over the last few years, we have been sending out announcements on an ad hoc basis to alert members to a host of opportunites, including tours, the Forklift Rally, various partner events, CMHDS golf tournament, and courses, to name some. Needless to say, there were occasional reports of important announcements being missed amid everyone’s flood of inbound Email. Beyond that, it was a lot of work to send out all of those announcements.
With this in mind, and being the logistics professionals that we (say we) are, we sought a way to eliminate this scatter gun approach and better consolidate and present as much of this information as possible to members in a predictable and easy format. So just as one might see consolidation or staging centres to better control just in time delivery of parts and products to your dock, the new newsletter is an attempt to do something similar for the dispatch of CHMDS information to your desktop.
CMHDS Launches New Website
The CMHDS is pleased to announce the launch of our all new website. Not just a redesign of the old site, this site is brand new from the ground up built using the WordPress platform which will allow us more opportunity to have two way communication with members as the new format includes options such as member comments and the inclusion of a members forum.
This new site will showcase a number of features designed to add value for CMHDS members including announcements of upcoming events and courses, industry news and announcements, a discussion forum, employment information, links to www.ForkliftRally.com and Supply Chain Safety Council pages, and more.
